How Does Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Work?
Chapter 7 bankruptcy allows people who are in debt to liquidate that debt and many of their financial obligations. It is generally appropriate for individuals who are current on their secured obligations, such as their car loan or house note. Chapter 7 can discharge unsecured debt, including credit card debt relief, relief from tax obligations more than three years old and relief from personal loans. All Chapter 7 bankruptcy clients will have to undergo pre-debt counseling as well as a financial management course.
